Olive Branch Ministries, Inc. Youth Summer Feeding Program

Olive Branch Ministries, Inc. will once again sponsor the Youth Summer Feeding Program through the Summer Food Service Program and Department of Education. This year’s program will again be held at Linwood Charter School, 401 West 70th Street. There will also be a satellite program at 740 Turner Lane, beginning Monday, June 6 through Friday, July 29, 2011. The Summer Food Service Program provides nutritious meals to children during the vacation periods that are similar to those offered under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs during the school year. The meals are free to youth between ages 4-18 years old and to individuals over 18 who have been determined by the State to be mentally or physically disabled and who participate in a public or nonprofit school program established for the disabled. The meals will be served as follows: Breakfast Monday– Friday 7:30 am—9:00am; Lunch 11:00 am-1:00 pm. For more information, please contact Lindora Baker, Executive Director at 318-861-2249 ext. 103.

It’s that time again. We are gearing up and making plans for our J.O.Y. Camp 2011. The staff of Olive Branch Ministries Enrichment School is taking applications for children grades K-11th. The cost of the camp this year is $40.00 a week for the first child, $30.00 for two children, and $20.00 for three or more enrolled. There is also $10.00 one time registration fee.
Some of the exciting activities during J.O.Y Camp 2011 will be Bible Study, Character Education, Academic and Outdoor Enrichment, and various field trips. We have an exciting summer planned, and you won’t want to miss out on this great adventure. There will also be breakfast and lunch served again this year free of charge through our Summer Feeding Program. Lindora Baker, Executive Director of Olive Branch Ministries
is a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church of Shreveport, she serves as Administrative Assistant to Senior Pastor Bernard Kimble, Superintendent of the Adult Sunday School, Activity Coordinator and Executive Director of Olive Branch Ministries, Inc. an outreach ministry of Mt. Olive. She serves on the local board of United Way, Hope Center for the Homeless and the Interfaith Advisory Board.
In 2003 she was elected to serve as Caddo Parish Commissioner for District 6. In the last four years as commissioner she has served on the Ways and Means Committee, Juvenile Justice Committee, Economic Development Committee and Property Management Committee. She is now in her 2nd term as Caddo Parish Commissioner where she serves as Parliamentarian of the Commission Board, Committee Chair of the Economic Development Committee, and a member of the Juvenile Justice Committee, Natural Resource Committee, Policy and Procedures Committee, Capital Projects Committee, Evaluation Committee, Industrial Parks Committee, and Ways and Means Committee. After an unsuccessful campaign for State Representative in 2007, Ms. Baker was elected again to serve as Caddo Commissioner for District 6 after the death of Commissioner Hershel Brown.
She is a member of the State Board of Police Jury and the National Association of County Officials where she serves on the Sub Committee Chair of the Economic Development Committee. In 2006, Lindora was chosen as Citizen of the Year by VA Medical Center, because of her dedicated services to the Community. She has been instrumental in assisting with the coordinating and development of neighborhood associations, housing rehab and repairs, community events, Free Tax Assistance, Summer Feeding programs and After School, Go Green Golf Tournament and Enrichment programs for youth.
In 2006, Ms. Baker coordinated and sponsored a men’s shelter for Katrina and Rita victims.
For 27 years, she has been in the healthcare Industry. She is presently serving as Director of Community Education for Guest Care Management Services where she is also pursuing her Nursing Home Administration license.
She is the mother of two: Erica and Calvin (Nyesha) and the proud grandmother of three beautiful girls: Caliya’, Finesse Beijing, and Alaysia. Her entire life has been in the Cedar Grove Community where she is proud to live and serve.
Dr Bernard Kimble, founder and CEO of Olive Branch Ministries
has devoted thirteen (13) years to the church and its congregation. He is a chartered member of the Cedar Grove Clergy Council, where he serves as Chairman. Cedar Grove Clergy Council consists of clergy from all denominations working to improve the political climate, and quality of life for the citizens in the Cedar Grove community.
Dr. Kimble has also been instrumental in organizing several community meetings and neighborhood clean up campaigns. He is a prior member of the Metropolitan Planning Commission for the City of Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana, where he served as Vice Chairperson. He is a member of the 13th District Missionary Baptist Association where he served in the past as Vice-Moderator at Large and Coordinator of the Women Division. He also serves as an instructor in the Congress of Christian Education where he facilitates the Deacon’s Ministry Seminar. He is one of four, Northwest Louisiana Pastoral Crisis Interventionist.
Dr. Kimble has earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degree in Bible and Theology from Louisiana Baptist University, where he also earned his PhD in Philosophy.
He is Founder and CEO of The Olive Branch Ministries, Inc., a non-profit outreach ministry of The Mount Olive Baptist Church of Shreveport where he initiated the development, not only of the mission and vision, but the organization structure, the by-laws, and formation of the board. Olive Branch Ministries focus is on Community Development, Tutorial and Computer Literacy for both youth and senior citizens.
Through Olive Branch Ministries, Pastor Kimble has been instrumental in creating and developing an Enrichment School and Summer Camp. In the fall of 2005, he opened a shelter, “Senior Haven” which housed homeless men and victims of both Hurricane Katrina and Rita.
Other programs he created, developed and hosted through Olive Branch Ministries include “Transforming Men’s Conference, Housing Counseling Workshops, Neighborhood Investment Programs and Community Outreach programs.
As Founder / CEO of Bernard Kimble Ministries, Dr. Kimble host and sponsor, “In The Word” Radio Broadcast which is aired on KOKA 980AM, Sunday mornings. He is the author of “The Decay of The African American Family”, which focuses on the decay of the African American family from a biblical perspective.
Dr. Kimble is Co-Founder of “Women of Vision, Inc”, along with First Lady Pheobe Kimble, an interdenominational ministry designed to educate, encourage and motivate women in leadership roles.
Currently, Dr Kimble serves as chairman of the board of the New Life Leadership Foundation; an advocate for charter schools in Caddo Parish, Louisiana. He is also a member of North West Louisiana Air Service Task Force executive committee appointed by Shreveport’s Mayor Cedric Glover to study the cost of air fare in Shreveport.
He is married to Pheobe Thomas Kimble and has two sons, Darius (wife Coretta) and Anthony, who are both ministers of the gospel. He is the proud grandfather of three granddaughters, Caellen, Camerin and Corine, one grandson, Mikah.

Olive Branch Ministries seeks to build up the community through a number of programs, including Medicaid Enrollment, housing counseling, capacity building, and after school tutoring program called the Enrichment School, a mature adults ministry, a Neighborhood Investment Program which works on community inbestment projects, and a summer food program.
